Prologue

Friday night smells like race fuel and sounds like thunder.

This is what Friday night looks like, explosive, adrenaline packed dirt track racing that rattles trees in small, quiet towns all over the country. The race to checkered flags doesn’t start when the green flag drops, but begins each Sunday night during race season - tearing down the car with your kids, fixing broken parts and trying to be faster next week. It’s a sport with comparatively little payoff, yet it’s common to see 3rd generation competitors at the same dirt track their family’s been at for decades. There is something special that keeps them and thousands of fans coming back each week. It’s a culture that envelops the entire family and spans the gaps in American culture.

We have a dream to create a series about this sport, the race car drivers and the families who enable them. Please share this to help make that happen.
